Sometimes doing the best work means keeping it subtle while focusing on the details.
When Judy Doherty brought this project to me it was clear this was going to be one of those times. Most of the work on this shot involved getting in close and going over each donut in great detail cleaning up stray sprinkles, changing colors on some and making sure each one looked delicious and perfect.
Then we added in another shot of the hand with the steaming cup of coffee, (’cause you always need a hot cup of coffee with your donuts, right?). And since we rotated the hand & cup we had to change the position of the donut reflection by the lip of the cup.
Doing high end retouching on a wide variety of images demands an ability to understand the ‘nature’ of each image and to see what moves need to be done to help raise it to a more polished state.
What a sweet job, eh?
